Dead End

Taken at Alkatraz ... summer of '03. This version, as opposed to the original, makes me think of it as a real prison instead of a tourist spot. Even the selective blurring makes my eyes feel trapped inside the sharp area.

... no wonder we haven't worked out business territory since '01

Awesome, awesome shot! May I ask how you did it? Wow!

With this particular shot I converted to B&W using the channel mixer, currently my new best friend. A sepia layer was added on top of that and a dirty scratchy effect on top of that. My favorite part was adding the blurring. I used the Quick Mask mode to create a gradient selection and then applied a gaussian blur. That's pretty much it. Isn't sharing fun?

Thanks for sharing! I'll have to experiment with that.

Awesome shot, there is something very rustic and creepy about this shot. I love it

Selective blurring... something I've not tried yet and very effective in this shot. Thanks for the tip! The "Dead End" sign really makes this one perfect...

Great image, the PS work is great, that selective focus look rocks.
