and I missed it ... again

Kevin dropped in from Germany out of nowhere the other day to say hi. I walked into the living room and there he was .. so I grabbed my camera. This was my first of what will be many baby steps into taking portraits. Kevin is a hard person to take pictures of. When cameras are in use he makes lots of weird faces, goes deadpan for 2 seconds, then returns to faces. I was slow on the draw with both photos and missed the expressions I was looking for once again. But I'm still happy with them. Mostly I'm just glad I turned the camera towards a human.

Both wonderful portraits. I like how you have used two alternate tones, both quite effectively.

Desmondo Jose Luis says:

portraits, nice. keep 'em coming.

meanwhile, i have decided to stop making comments on "good enough to eat," and instead compile a "teofil studios top ten" list of my favorites. (sorry i don't have my own web site. desmondojoseluis.org will open once i gain web skillz.)

So far, my list includes (not in order):

1. lighthouse

2. boathouse

3. alcatraz ("don't fence")

4. the one of "devil's rock" or whatever it's called, i can't remember. but seriously, it's like, ansel adams-esque.

5. the one by the lake, with the sort of fish-eye effect, and the levels all tweaked.

6. the one of the run-down house

Great stuff, your focus is spot on. I like the treatment of the second one.
